Alloys are used to manufacture various plates and sheets. They can be either carbon, steel, or Nickel Alloy plates. These plates display resistance to severe corrosion and greater strength. However, if no chromium is added to the alloy then the resistance to corrosion may decrease. These plates can also be used in diluted solutions of sulfuric and hydrochloric acid. It also offers resistance to alkalis that are caustic. Nickel Alloy Strip also performs well in marine environments by resisting cavitation corrosion. Alloy 200 Sheet provides decent magnetic and mechanical properties. Therefore these alloy sheets are also known as ferromagnetic alloys. Exposure of this grade to a temperature range of 800 degrees F to 1200 degrees F leads to precipitation of carbon phase and loss of ductility. In case one is searching for an alloy sheet for application above 600 degrees F then Nickel 201 Plates are used. Resistance to creep needs to be considered as a designing factor for applications whose service temperature reaches 800 degrees F. Cold working these plates increases the tensile strength of these plates significantly.
Nickel 200 Plate is made up of commercially pure wrought nickel. They display resistance in neutral salt solutions as well. However, the metal comes under severe attack and corrodes in an oxidizing environment. They also have the ability to resist dry chlorine and hydrogen chloride. JIS NW 2201 Foil functions well in reducing conditions. They are widely used in soap industries to make soap. In the case of the formation of a passive oxide film on the plate then they can also be used in an oxidizing environment. UNS N02200 Coil is widely used in industries such as power generation, seawater equipment, pulp and paper, condenser, pharmaceutical, and gas processing.
